Keep America Working

Americans today are struggling to secure jobs and employers face similar challenges in attracting the right candidates needed to meet current job demands. This is why Monster.com has initiated the national Keep America Working career fair which is visiting US cities throughout the year to bring together employers and job seekers with the tools and expertise needed to find the right fit for both parties.

The next stop on the tour is our own, Vienna, VA on September 10. We are working with U.S. Representative Gerry Connolly’s (VA-11) office and his staff is scheduled to speak to attendees and discuss the thousands of federal hiring opportunities following the recent Where the Jobs Are 2009 report from the Partnership for Public Service.

We have also been working in Rep. Connolly’s district to deliver Power Seeker Workshops with SkillSource Group, Inc., a non-profit entity of the Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board. These workshops are free to the public and offers the job seeker a jump start on standing out in a tough labor market.

The Monster’s Keep America Working job fairs are free of charge to both job seekers and Monster employers with current job openings, in order to eliminate any cost barrier, and to encourage the greatest number of employers with available jobs to link face-to-face with people who need those jobs.

The Keep America Working Tour includes more than 100 stops across the nation throughout 2009 and since its kick-off in Boston at the end of February, the tour has featured 1,674 employers with more than 40,000 jobs to fill in 49 major markets.

We are very excited to be a part of this event in Northern Virginia and hope to see you there!
