  • For the extra hands you offered to lighten the load: Thank you.
  • For every single time you trusted me enough to call me “Doc:” Thank you.
  • For the nights we shared “out on the town:” Thank you.
  • For the welcome you gave me in foreign lands: Thank you.
  • For the fun we had on the range: Thank you.
  • For the morning runs: Thank you.
  • For the tips on shining shoes and creasing my clothes: Thank you.
  • For making me the scariest thing I have to be afraid of in the dark: Thank you.
  • For the mistakes you forgave: Thank you.
  • For dropping me for 735 pushups in one drill session – breaking the hall record: Thank you
  • For the times you picked me up: Thank you.
  • For pushing: Thank you.
  • For pulling: Thank you.
  • For doing the right thing when you thought no one else was looking: Thank you.
  • For convincing me that even I can cook better than that: Thank you.
  • For the guidance you gave: Thank you.
  • For holding me accountable: Thank you.
  • For doing it all on little pay and even less sleep: Thank you.

I could go on, but none of us wants to read that much.

As we say goodbye to Veterans Day 2012, I salute you.
