New York issues RFP for drivers’ license and ID card solution

Deltek Analyst Evan Halperin reports.

After several extensions with the state’s drivers’ license and ID card vendor, De La Rue Cash Systems, the New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) recently issued a request for proposals (RFP) to rebid these services. De La Rue Cash Systems was awarded a contract by the DMV in 2004 after a long procurement process that began in May 2001.
Deltek began tracking the initial solicitation release prior to the public release in 2001, and has continued to track the rebid since 2007. The state of New York has approximately 120 state and county issuing offices for licenses and ID cards. The vendor that is awarded the new contract must utilize the existing infrastructure and develop a streamlined process for license and ID production.
