What does it take to be an intelligence analyst?

The intelligence community is getting a lot of attention these days. And with President Obama’s announcement of the Afghanistan draw-down timeline, the need for civilian intelligence experts will only increase. Breaking into the “business” can be tough – without prior military experience and a security clearance, it can be difficult to get your foot in the door of those coveted three letter agencies. Enter the Analyst Boot Camp offered by the Advanced Technical Intelligence Center – a unique training program that gives students skills in topics from how to brief and write like an analyst, as well as a top secret security clearance.

Since the question of “how do I get a security clearance?” is one I get often, and the answer is always sponsorship by a government agency or contractor, this is a unique way for individuals to get skills, training and a clearance through another route.
