NextGen 2022: Your Professional Development Starts Here

May 11 will be the 13th time we’ve hosted the NextGen Government Training Summit and this year we’re thrilled to announce some pretty big changes.

We are excited to offer two dates for the virtual summit this year; both dates will be free to all attendees:

May 11, 2022: NextGen Government Virtual Training Summit: Getting Ahead in Your Career [Registration is Open!]

Sept. 21, 2022: NextGen Government Virtual Training Summit: Supporting and Developing Gov Supervisors [Registration Opens June 2022]

By hosting the Summit twice in 2022, we are hoping to better meet the needs of our community. Both virtual summits are free to attend and registration is open to all. We are excited to move forward with this next iteration of our flagship professional development event. By eliminating the registration cost, we are hoping to create a bigger and more inclusive training event than we’ve ever offered. We can’t wait for you to be a part of it.

So, what does this mean for you? How will NextGen be different with two virtual summits, and what can you expect to stay the same? We break it down with need-to-know information:

Will the Summit still be virtual?

Yes, we feel the safest option is to host the Summit virtually for both dates in 2022.

How will the agenda change by going virtual?

We will still offer keynote and breakout sessions that are aligned with OPM’s ECQs. Attendees will be able to earn up to five CPE credits for each Summit.

In addition to tuning in live to all sessions, every session during the NextGen Summit will also be made available on-demand! This means you can access the recordings for every single session – no more debating which sessions to attend. You’ll have access to the recordings whenever you want and can share them with colleagues.

Who should attend NextGen?

That depends on your experience level and what you’d like to get out of the Summits! With two options this year, here’s who should attend which date:

May 11, 2022 – NextGen Government Training Summit: Getting Ahead in Your Career

If you’re just starting out in public service or have a few years of experience, you’ll want to attend the spring Summit. The agenda will be curated to offer you sessions focused on career planning, peer management, creating your personal brand, managing up and more. You’ll learn the concepts and fundamentals to build the career you want in public service. The agenda will also be mapped to OPM’s ECQs (learn more about those here). Register now.

Sept. 18, 2022 – NextGen Government Training Summit: Support and Developing Supervisors in Gov

If you are a manager, supervisor or have anyone reporting to you, this is the Summit for you. Being responsible for one or one hundred employees requires specific skillsets and constant learning. We’re creating an agenda that speaks to the skills those in management need including how to manage with empathy, identify core values for your team, provide effective and clear feedback and even how to deal with poor performers and low morale. These sessions will also be aligned with OPM’s ECQs. Registration opens in June 2022.

Will I be able to network with other attendees?

Yes! We know this is an important part of the NextGen experience and we want to connect with you too! We are building out a robust online platform that will be able to support virtual networking and chatting. Connecting government to improve government is the GovLoop mission and we will deliver on this at both of the virtual Summits.

Is there a cost to attend?

No. For the first time ever, there is absolutely no cost to attend either of the NextGen Government Training Summits.

How can I show proof of attendance?

You will receive your CPE certificates via email a few weeks after the virtual events. Each attendee will also receive a NextGen certificate of attendance the day after the virtual summit via email.

Are the NextGen Public Service Awards still happening this year?

Yes! Just because we won’t be able to honor and celebrate the award winners in person, doesn’t mean their work won’t be acknowledged! The NextGen Awards will follow a virtual format. Stay tuned for news on this program in 2022.

Who will be speaking at the Virtual Summits?

We have thirteen expert speakers slated to join us for the May 11 virtual summit. Check out the full agenda here to explore the speaker lineup and session descriptions.
