Daily Dose: Federal Workers Union Questions the GOP

An article in the Washington Post shared an ad that is scheduled to air this weekend by the American Federation of Government Employees, targeting the GOP’s recent legislation on federal pay and benefits.

The 30-second ad is part of a modest advertising campaign that begins Sunday on TV stations in the Washington area and will continue Monday and Tuesday on CNN, Fox News and MSNBC. Print ads also will run in Capitol Hill newspapers, and AFGE locals are being encouraged to buy advertising time to air the ad in their communities.

However, it is important to note that the information in the ad is not quite correct – the proposals don’t include cuts, they just require younger feds to pay more for retirement benefits.

Do you think AFGE’s ad will effectively influence this issue?
