Florida has one of the nation’s clearest visions for modernizing government. Its priorities, Zero Trust cybersecurity, responsible AI, data interoperability, and cloud-first services are more than individual technology projects. Together, they create a roadmap for delivering better government.
At first glance, these initiatives may seem unrelated. But they all depend on one thing.
Information.
In a recent article, I wrote about the shift from digital government to intelligent government. Digital government focused on putting information online. Intelligent government focuses on putting that information to work. It uses automation, governance, and AI to improve decisions, speed up services, and deliver better outcomes for citizens.
As I look at Florida’s priorities, I see another idea connecting them.
Information readiness.
Information readiness means your information is trusted, governed, connected, secure, and easy to find when people need it. It is not just stored. It is organized, managed, and ready to support employees, business processes, and AI.
Without information readiness, modernization becomes a collection of disconnected technology projects.
With it, agencies can build a foundation for intelligent government.
Information Readiness Makes Zero Trust Stronger
Zero Trust has become the new security standard for government. Traditional security models were designed for a different era. Today’s agencies operate across cloud platforms, remote work environments, and connected systems.
Zero Trust is about more than protecting networks. It also requires agencies to know what information they have, where it lives, who should access it, and how it moves across the organization.
Information readiness provides that visibility.
