Hero Day – Granting wishes for children of fallen soldiers

Fellow GovLoopers, today I’m happy to announce the launch of Hero Day – a new organization focused on granting wishes for children of soldiers who have given their lives in service of our country.

My colleague Peter Loui and I started working on this back in November after seeing this photo of five year old MacAidan at his father’s funeral:

Justin Gallegos, awarded a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts, was one of eight soldiers killed in Afghanistan when enemy forces attacked their outpost on 10/3/09. He was 27.
MacAidan’s wish is to go on a trip to Disney World, and I need your help reaching our goal of $5,000 to get him, his mother and grandmother there.
