Independent Electric to Break Ground on Warehouse/Training Facility in Levelland Industrial Rail Park

Levelland City and Economic Development officials announce the ground breaking on December 8, 2009 at 3:00 p.m of a $500,000 warehouse/training facility to be built in the new Levelland Industrial Rail Park.

“We’re excited for Janet and David Duffy and the employees of Independent Electric,” said Dave Quinn, executive director of the Levelland Economic Development Corporation (LEDC). “They are a shining example of how we can grow Levelland from the inside out.”

Independent Electric is a locally owned electrical contractor that works throughout the region. Janet and David Duffy are building a new state of the art warehouse equipped with class room space for a regional training facility. The company will utilize the expanded roadway to store their heavy equipment and to allow students access to the training facility.

“We are thankful that they (Independent Electric) came to us for help,” said Elgin Conner, LEDC chairman. “This is the kind of thing that the LEDC board wants to see happen more often, a local company who imports dollars to the community using our programs to expand their business.”
Once complete, the warehouse/training center will allow Independent Electric to maintain their current employee level of 21 and ad 4 to 5 more over the next three years in addition to training future electricians on the south plains.
