PSA: National Public Lands Day – Sat. Sep. 25th

On Saturday we can show our appreciation by taking part in National Public Lands Day, a nationwide effort to spruce up some of the lands that make up our national backyard.

Three federal agencies and 700 volunteers took part in the first National Public Lands Day in 1994, according to the event’s website. Last year, it said, eight agencies and 150,000 volunteers at more than 2,000 locations across the country took part, removing about 900,000 pounds of trash, building or maintaining more than 1,300 miles of trails and planting about 100,000 tree and shrubs.

Volunteering, is a nice way to give back to the community as well as to the environment!
