“Director of Operations blog” reinforces relationship between USCG and professional mariners

I met Rear Admiral James Watson at a lunch on National Maritime Day nearly two years ago. I have, since then, appreciated his generosity with his time and his desire to open up to the Coast Guard and greater maritime communities. Whether in a visit to his office at Coast Guard Headquarters back in 2008, our discussions at conferences since, his visit to the Auxiliary Detachment at The College of William and Mary (as a guest lecturer), or his tireless keeping of the Director of Operations blog and accompanying YouTube channel, RDML Watson takes sincere interest in both the issues important to me personally, and to the maritime community as a whole.
