Good morning, here are Friday’s political law links

ARE YOU READING THIS ON YOUR NEW IPAD? Did you the fight the urge to join the lines at the Apple store today to get a new iPad? This site looks great on iPads of all generations, especially since I upgraded my formatting last week (or, in WordPress lingo, my “theme”) to accommodate tablets and mobile devices. Now on to today’s links.

FRESH ELECTION LAW NEWS. The latest Wiley Rein newsletter is online here and includes this helpful look at copyrights and campaigns.

STEVENS LAWYER: SHOCKING CORRUPTION. Story here. “The long-awaited investigative report concerning prosecutorial misconduct in the federal corruption trial of the late Sen. Ted Stevens has been released publicly. And it appears that, as some expected, Alaska prosecutors are going to take the fall for the missteps of the whole team.” The report (525 page PDF) is online here.

WEBCAST WITH STEVENS ATTORNEY. NACDL will host a webcast with Stevens lawyer Robert Cary at 2 p.m. today. More here.

IMMUNITY IN EDWARDS TRIAL. Story here. “John Edwards’s former mistress, Rielle Hunter, has been granted immunity for anything she says on the stand during the ex-presidential candidate’s trial, according to a report on Thursday.”

OFA AND THIRD PARTY TAGS. Story here. “For a glimpse at the online sophistication of President Obama’s reelection campaign, look no further than a meager payment made by the campaign to a tech firm this year. In addition to buying $3 million worth of online ads in January, the Obama camp paid two-year-old Chicago area ad tech company BrightTag $5,000.”

OFA IS WATCHING. Politico. “There’s an added twist for Obama: he’s making these moves at the same moment his administration is pushing the virtues of online privacy, last month proposing a consumer bill of rights to protect it.”

GUILTY PLEA IN AZ CASE. Story here. “Former Fiesta Bowl chief operating officer Natalie Wisneski pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court Thursday to one count of conspiracy for her role in the Fiesta Bowl political contribution scandal.”

ETHICS COMMITTEE IN ID. Story here. “The Idaho Senate will convene an ethics committee after minority Democrats complained that the Senate Resources chairman failed to disclose – through 22 votes – that he had a conflict of interest over oil and gas legislation: He has oil and gas leases on his land.”

O’MALLEY CONTRIBUTIONS ISSUE. Story here. “Thompson, Cobb, Bazilio & Associates, an accounting firm whose chairman and CEO is at the center of a campaign corruption probe in D.C. may have exceeded campaign contribution limits in Maryland with a gift to the 2010 re-election campaign of Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley.”

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.
