How to Manage Projects Effectively

How to Manage Projects Effectively - by klbeasley via Flickr

“Plan. Execute. Manage Change. Be a Great Leader.”

It’s good advice, but it’s nothing new. You’ve probably known from the beginning that being able to do all these things well is a crucial part of being a great project manager. It’s pretty obvious that you’re not going to land a job as a project manager or improve your ability to deliver successful projects unless you can do these things.

Too Much Theory Makes Jack a Dull Boy

Far too much of what you see about how to manage projects effectively is abstract. I’m guilty of putting abstract information out there, especially when it’s a short blog post as the medium. We talk about leadership, thinking ahead, managing your project baseline – all useful concepts, but you can’t point to them. You can’t hold out your hand and say, “Give me some leadership.” As a result, it’s hard to wrap your mind around what those things actually mean.

I’d like to change that. Over the past eight months, I’ve been working hard on a series of real-world, in the trenches video courses you can take online, from anywhere in the world.

Every month, I am producing new courses that flow in a logical progression through the life-cycle of a project. I’m talking about waterfall and agile, kanban and critical chain. I want to make you into a Swiss Army knife of common-sense project management you can use in just about any environment, from small-scale non-technical projects to highly technical aerospace and defense programs.

Home Cook’n From Scratch

One part I’m proud of is that I get to show you how to actually do this stuff. If there is a document we are talking about, I don’t just tell you about it. I create it in front of your eyes. From scratch. One of the best parts for me are the bonus lessons I’m producing in response to questions and discussion from the members. We even have some student projects going on while iterating the project planning together. We are having a blast!

There’s a course dedicated to career coaching too, getting into the nitty-gritty about how to approach a job search and land one. How to draw opportunities to you instead of always having to chase after them. How to get real experience and find the right organizations who place some real value on project management as a formal discipline where you can grow.

Now that my 8th course is underway, with close to 40 hours of total training and mentoring material now available, I’ve been getting requests to make it all available, and the new courses as I’m developing and producing them.

Check it Out

So, you can now get instant access to everything for just $197 now, or you can choose the $29.99 a month option. That’s access to everything created so far, and all future courses…likely to be over 80 hours of training before I’m done.

I invite you to browse through the course descriptions and outlines, sample videos and comments from current members.
