#SocialMedia chat meets #Gov20 this week (#sm88)

I have been a fan of many of the weekly Twitter-based chats as they provide a great place for education and for networking. This week I will be hosting the #SocialMedia chat at Noon, ET, and we will be discussing Government 2.0, I would encourage both public and private sector people to jump in, weigh in, to educate, and to network.

In preparation for the chat here are a few things to review.

What is Government 2.0?

Government 2.0 is a citizen-centric philosophy and strategy that believes the best results are usually driven by partnerships between citizens and government, at all levels. It is focused entirely on achieving goals through increased efficiency, better management, information transparency, and citizen engagement and most often leverages newer technologies to achieve the desired outcomes. Government 2.0 is bringing business approaches, business technologies, to government.

Where do opportunities exist for private sector companies?

I have a presentation on Scribd that focuses on how businesses can work with Government, including areas like Open Data and Social Media.

Are there case studies and examples worth reviewing prior to the chat?

Come one, come all, lets work to build a common understanding and hopefully identify areas where both the public and private sector can work more closely.

John
