Rebecca Johnson who is quoted in this article is the highest ranking executive at IRS who is responsible for employee engagement. When I asked her why the IRS does not report out its employee engagement data by racial categories, she replied, “It is not politically savvy.” I guess that is one way to deal with demographic change in the workplace.…[Read more]

Lack of diversity and inclusion is the blame for 911. Low level intelligence experts knew as far back as the Clinton administration that terrorists had the capability to hijack airplanes as acts of terror. That advice was ignored by the leaders in the insular intelligence community that to this day do not take constructive feedback in a positive…[Read more]

How appropriate a thread. A post that honors a commander and chief with a checkered past when it comes to diversity and inclusion and replies that throw American Indians under the bus during American Indian Heritage Month.
Your remarks are trying to explain a situation where there are too many bosses but no one doing any work.

Many times “taking care of yourself” particularly for women translates into covering-acting like a man. 61% of all workers cover in the workplace including 45% of white men. We would much better off recognizing and embracing the differences among our colleagues by “taking care of everyone” as opposed to “taking care of ourselves.”

I was quite offended as an American Indian/Alaska Native with your promotion of Theodore Roosevelt as a role model for leadership.
Even white historians agree that Roosevelt held the following biases against Native people:
• The US was generous to the Indians, paying them many times what their land was worth.
• Indians bro…[Read more] -

Another good suggestion about applying to the SES is good luck if you are a person of color. The SES is dominated by White people at 80%.

richard regan commented on the post, How the Government’s Best Place to Work Does Onboarding, on the site GovLoop 5 years, 1 month ago
Whether it is on-boarding, recruitment or development, it cannot be done in a difference neutral environment. When I hear gender/race neutral, I hear white privilege and individualism and
universalism.White people as universalists have been conditioned to see their world as the experience of everyone else. This forces white people to view…[Read more]

richard regan commented on the post, How the Government’s Best Place to Work Does Onboarding, on the site GovLoop 5 years, 1 month ago
The government’s best place to work when it come to onboarding is also one of the most white and male dominated agencies in the federal government. It is easy to onboard people who look like you, talk like you and act like you. Once again, GovLoop sends a message that inclusion is not important when it comes to onboarding or engagement.
